About JO's Oyster Garden
A Place for you to Root Your Self and Grow. A Community of Creativity and Connection.
JO's Oyster Garden is meant to be more than a jewelry business. My students in class will often say, ‘It’s about the jewelry, but it’s not about the jewelry.’. They understand that I created this as a way to gather together and share deeply in a safe environment. Working with our hands is a way to access higher wisdom that lives in our bodies, while creating beauty in the world. This is deeply important. These are the high ideals that I practice in order to heal my Self and grow into the person I am meant to be. JO’s Oyster Garden is a representation of my heart and all of the things i hold dear- beauty, connection, reverence for the natural world, & healing. Jewelry is just the token that I use as a way in (& I happen to love it deeply).
The funny thing about ‘starting’ this business is that I didn’t mean to. I never set out to start anything. My purpose was to align my life with the things I value most- being home to raise my daughter, creating beautiful things, and spending time deep in nature. And by reprioritizing my life with these ideals front and center, JO’s Oyster Garden has emerged. It found me. And has continued to unfold before me, without any planning. It’s been a practice of doing the next thing that feels free and fun! When I access my higher Self, the next step is there waiting. It’s been a mindset, not a business plan. This has made it inextricably tied to my personal healing journey. In this way, my life feels like it’s being lived backward, revisiting the hardest moments from my past to awash them with the love, respect, & connection that they needed. Only then can I emerge clearer, lighter, and more open, connected once again to the full experience of life. I guess what im saying is that my outer experience of life is like a reflection of my inner world, and like most small business owners, the two can’t be separated. They balance each other like yin and yang, opposites needing harmony. That is why healing and overcoming these wounds from my past is JO’s deeper purpose. In one sense, it’s all about me and my personal journey; in another it’s about helping you with yours. Through the practice of making jewelry, I wish to help you find your Selves & your ancient wisdom of who you’re meant to be. A healed person has the power to heal the whole system, like an oyster colony. A bedrock of support, cleaning out the pollution and restoring health and balance.
I hope you join our community and connect with your Self to grow towards the light, just like my spirit animal, the oyster.
